A Poem for my Brother
My brother, how have we fooled ourselves so?
Oh, the dances we danced, the songs we sung!
Was it not more than a fading glow?
Many teach how it was when we were young.
On strips and strands of string all our hopes hung.
Time would tell us what to believe as true
And ease our grip on that to which we clung.
Now, friend, I know how we moved on and grew;
You and I left behind the selves we slew.
Yet what we have done and where we have gone
Leaves us looking for another good view,
With much unknown and little to be drawn.
This next time around, let’s dare to be wild.
Oh! How much I wish to be like a child!
